This 3rd edition of the International Film Festival WAR ON SCREEN offers you
two exhibitions : "Thierry Guitard" & "The First World War in Marne : an Aviation Story"
THIERRY GUITARD EXHIBITION
THE FIRST WORLD WAR IN MARNE: AN AVIATION HISTORY
This exhibition offers an opportunity to learn about the leading figures in the world of aviation during the First World War. Thanks to the region’s position near the Front, aviation had a strong presence in Marne, which saw an increase in the number of sites able to accommodate more aircraft. Made up largely of flat terrain, the region’s geography lent itself to receiving reconnaissance, fighter and bomber squadrons whose numbers rose steadily between 1914 and 1918. After the initial mission to provide information through aerial reconnaissance, aviators soon distinguished themselves through their military feats.
AVIATION: A NEW WEAPON IN TIMES OF WAR
Saturday 19 September, 2.30 pm: lecture by Hervé Chabaud, aviation journalist at L’Union.
